What is so special about this type of floors?
Before we talk about the (long) list of these floors bring, let’s cover what they are and what makes it different from more traditional floors.
These floors are created with a solid form of material, glitter-like particles for a shimmering, head-turning finish. Typically, the material containing metallic pigment has been modified during the mixing or application process, allowing for a truly one-of-a-kind floor that’s unmatched by any other business.
Offering the same reliable durability as a traditional finish, this solution creates a unique and eye-catching finish characterised by swirling patterns and three-dimensional shapes. Looking for a product to accentuate your showroom, restaurant space, or retail location?
You just found it.
In short, you enjoy all the benefits of traditional floors, with a stylish spin that can help your business stand out from the crowd.
Metallic epoxy flooring benefits
Where are these floors suitable?
These coatings can be applied to your existing concrete surfaces or customised to suit a new floor. It’s worth noting that your substrate foundation must be smooth for correct installation, but that doesn’t mean you can’t transform an existing space.
At Hawk CFC, we provide a full range of concrete services across concrete grinding and concrete remediation to ensure your business enjoys the benefits of modern, stylish floor.
Ideal for a range of business and commercial spaces, we’ve helped install floors across the following industries:
It’s easy to assume this type of floor is only for high-end commercial spaces or large construction projects, but this overlooks the advantages of this ultra-modern coating.
If your business is customer facing and you’re looking to improve your brand’s reputation and aesthetic, reach out and speak to a member of the Hawk team on 0490 777 761 to learn more.
Who should avoid this type of floor?
Although the finish may vary, all coatings offer a robust finish that’s resistant to impact, chemicals, moisture, and everyday wear and tear.
However, these floors are a visual statement that you’ll need to consider for your business or commercial space. For businesses looking for a uniform style, these designs may not suit. In this instance, you may prefer a polished concrete floor or acid-stained concrete pattern.
The floor varies from one centimetre to the next, with no two floors ever looking the same. Consider whether a visually striking, swirling pattern is right for your floor to help you make an informed decision.

How much does this type of floor cost in Perth?
As a business owner, you know the importance of branding. Underpaying for signage does more harm than good, and your floors project a message about your business even without saying your name or using your logo.
Thankfully, you won’t need to take out a second mortgage on your home to invest in specialty floors, with the average cost falling between $40 – 85 per m2.
The cost of upgrading your current concrete surfaces will also be influenced by variables including the need for concrete grinding to prepare your floors, the size of your space, and the skill of your installer.

How is this type of floor installed?
These floors are growing in popularity across Perth’s commercial establishments as business owners look to balance form and function.
But it is important to follow set installation guidelines to ensure optimal strength and longevity. Read on for our step-by-step guide to installing striking floor.
Step One: Floor preparation
Installing relies on the same principles as any other coating. An installer will need to ensure your floors are clean, flat, and free of debris. If necessary, concrete polishing may be used to level your surface prior to installation.
Step Two: The primer
Once your floor has been suitably prepped, it’s time to apply your primer. This coating is highly sensitive, so the installer will need to remove dust throughout the primer application to maintain even application.
Step Three: Apply substrate
Once the priming step is complete, it’s time to apply a substrate to your floor. We recommend a darker substrate to bring out the reflective properties of the metallic pigments and create an elegant finish for your commercial or industrial space.
Step Four: Metallic layer
It’s time for the most exciting step. Although, technically, this step consists of three separate products:
- Clear resin
- Hardener
- Colouring
Once these components are mixed together (which needs to be done slowly to avoid bubbling), the metallic layer is applied. We recommend using 500 to 700 grams per square meter for adequate coverage (any less and you won’t have enough for your floor’s surface area, any more and the finish will be too thick and lacking the signature shimmer you’re after).
Step Five: Topcoat
To protect your new floor, the surface will need a topcoat that prevents scratches and impact damage. We recommend a polyaspartic or urethane product for added scratch and UV-resistant qualities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Metallic Epoxy Flooring in Perth
How long does this type of floor last?
When it comes to running your business, you don’t want to be worried about replacing your flooring, and with this type of coating, you don’t have to.
Although there are a range of variables that will influence the lifespan of the flooring, including the volume of foot traffic, care of installation, and any heavy-duty commercial use, this option offers the same reliable consistency and peace of mind as a traditional coating.
That means your stunning new floors will last up to 20 years with the right care and maintenance (which we’ll show you below).
What colour options can I choose from?
When we say these floors is one of a kind, we mean it.
Choose from clear, silver, or brightly-coloured metallic shades, then customise your floor any way you like. You can opt for less pigmentation to reduce shimmer or increase pigmentation for a more dramatic look.
You can also blend colours on the floor to meet your design or branding needs. For example, a single colour helps to create a streamlined appearance, while two or three-layer finishes blend hues and create wave-like designs that are 100% unique to your business.
Will my new metallic epoxy flooring need extra maintenance?
No.
Although your new floors may look like they’ve come from the pages of a luxury catalogue, they require no extra care that a regular coating requires. At Hawk CFC, we apply a market-leading sealant to protect your decorative surface from spills, scratches, and moisture penetration.
This makes your floor non-porous and less likely to stain. To help extend the life of your new floor, we recommend following a few simple maintenance rules:
- Remove dirt, dust, or debris with a broom
- Prevent grime buildup with a mop or wet rag every few weeks
- Remove spills ASAP to avoid liquid sitting on your floor for too long
- Use a non-abrasive cleaner to target stains (we’re happy to offer advice over the phone whether you’re a Hawk client or not)
Are these floors suitable for a commercial kitchen?
Absolutely.
Although the shimmering finish may look slippery, its surface is actually highly slip-resistant (equal to solid pigmented floors or plain concrete). For spaces where foot traffic is heavy, we’re able to provide topcoats to improve the non-slip qualities of your floor even further.
As metallic option can be applied in a seamless coat (regardless of unconventional floor layout and topography), you won’t be left with seams that encourage bacteria and grime. This supports commercial kitchens and industrial areas where hygiene is top of mind.
