How Do I Know If This Options Suits Me?

First thing’s first: what is it and how do you know if you need it? Well, unlike traditional solutions — which is generally made from a cement-based mixed — it is made from resins combined with a filler powder.

The result? A floor that is:

  • Waterproof
  • Stain resistant
  • Less likely to crack, shrink, or discolour
  • Resistant to harsh chemicals
  • Non-porous
  • Flexible
  • Bacteria-resistant
  • Able to handle traffic from heavy machinery
  • Available in many colour variations

This makes it an excellent choice for high-traffic interiors and exteriors or areas that regularly get wet, including kitchens, bathrooms, entry halls, or commercial buildings like restaurants or hospitals.

If any of this checks your boxes, then this type of flooring might be an excellent choice for you.

How Much Does This Solution Cost in Perth?

It will typically cost more than traditional cement-based grouts. This, in part, has to do with the quality and durability of the material. Additionally, it is more difficult to install (more on that later), and installation requires significant skill.

With all this in mind, you can expect to pay approximately $20 per kilogram, plus installation costs.

What is the Installation Process Like?

We use both injection and standard grouting techniques to create a durable, stain-resistant, mould proof line.

Overall, this is a fairly complicated process. For one, unlike cement grout, this one solidifies quickly after it’s activated. This means that it must be applied and cleaned quickly — and often in sections. Additionally, any porous surfaces (like natural stone) must be sealed before the new floor is applied. Tile must also be cleaned thoroughly prior to applying this solutions.

Without professional installation, you can have many issues, including discolouration, uneven application and bubbles. That’s why we always recommend you work with a dedicated team of experts.

How Can I Find the Best Flooring Professional?

When looking for a professional, be sure to make sure that you find a company that offers:

  • A guarantee on both materials and workmanship
  • Custom resins so you can achieve your exact aesthetic goals
  • Experience working in your industry
  • Free consultations to ensure that you choose the best resin and flooring options for you
  • Customisations, including non-slip add-ons

Frequently Asked Questions About Epoxy Grout in Perth

What are other types of grout?

There many other types available on the market today, including:

Sanded solutions

Sanded grout is a form of cement grout. It’s essentially a mortar and sand mixture, and it’s a particularly strong form of concrete. This kind is ideal for tiles with large joints, like ceramic and stone, as it is slightly more resistant to wear and tear. That said, sanded option is extremely absorbent, and it can attract dirt, mould, and other debris. This is especially true if you apply it to a frequently wet space.

Unsanded solutions

This form of cement grout is made from a mixture of cement, water, and non-sand particles. It is a bit weaker than its sanded alternative, and it is prone to shrinking and cracking over time. That said, it is more frequently used on bathroom floors and walls. It’s also often used with natural stone.

Furan solutions

Made from polymers of furfuryl alcohol, this type is resistant to scratches, stains, and day-to-day damage. This is often used as an alternative in areas with high exposure to chemicals.

What’s the difference between epoxy grout and cement grout?

Both variations are made from different materials. As a result, there are many differences in application and durability.

  • First, cement tends to shrink over time, while epoxy grout generally maintains its shape and form,
  • Cement grout is highly porous, while epoxy grout is not porous at all. This makes cement solution less resistant to water, stains, chemical damage, mould, and cracks.
  • Cement variation can be more difficult to clean. This is especially true of sanded cement grout, which has an uneven, porous texture that traps dirt and debris.
  • Cement becomes easily discoloured, which is difficult if you’re going for a unique aesthetic in your space.
